“The Montgomery Farmhouse”, 11×14″ watercolor on Aquabord watercolor panel by Annie Dash Studios
“Home is where our story begins.” – Annie Danielson
The process for creating this work began with a photograph; I visited the home on a bright, clear morning and photographed it. I edited out a telephone pole in the digital image; it’s not a perfect photo but gave me the information I needed to create the digital drawing, which was the next step.
I transfered the digital drawing to create preliminary watercolor work that allowed me to establish the color palette and style of the piece.
Once my client reviewed the materials and approved the concept, I moved forward to create the finished work in watercolor on Aquabord, a sturdy watercolor panel that provides a stronger work surface than watercolor paper. As always, I worked in many layers to achieve depth and luminosity for the final work.
This home is such a treasure — it reminds me of a home from L.M. Montgomery’s “Anne of Green Gables” series, one of my favorite works of all time.
I absolutely loved creating this piece and hope the Montgomery family enjoys it in great health and good cheer for many years to come!
