“Reflections of Autumn”, 14×11″ acrylic on panel by Annie Dash Studios
“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118: 24
I recall the day I photographed this beautiful property — the morning autumn air was crisp and cool; the sky was a cloudless, brilliant azure blue; and the trees were ablaze with autumn’s fiery palette. It was October last year; I had my toddler son close at hand and we were captivated by the glorious day and the incredible scene in front of us.
The owner of the property, Nancy, greeted us warmly and graciously gave us a tour of the land, which had been in her family for generations. She shared inspiring stories of the strength, fortitude, and resilience of her mother, who sounded like an incredible woman. I extend my most heartfelt thanks to Nancy for allowing me to photograph and paint her family’s property and for generously sharing her morning with me. It was a very special experience that I will never forget, and I am so grateful to have had this opportunity. Nancy also provided the idea for the title of this piece, which I felt was most suitable. Many thanks also to Nancy’s daughter, Sally, for getting me in touch with her parents to arrange for the photos.
This piece is 14×11″ and was created in acrylic on museum-grade panel using many layers. Work-in-progress images are below.
The beauty and grandeur of autumn always inspires me and it’s a time of year that I look forward to with great anticipation. What is your favorite time of year? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
