Sunflowers” by Annie Dash, 9×12” acrylic on museum-quality gessobord panel

“True friends are like bright sunflowers that never fade away, even over distance and time.” – Marie Williams Johnstone

I was so inspired by the beautiful, hand-tended floral arrangements of Emily Ernstberger Rose that I ordered a bouquet of sunflowers and promptly photographed them. A million thanks to Emily for all her hard work tending such beautiful flowers and arranging them into a gorgeous bouquet! I created this sunflower still life floral portrait in acrylic paint from the studio photo I took of the flowers.

I made a few changes from my reference photo — brightened the backdrop a bit, widened the vase, and warmed up the tabletop. I love that the shift in tones gave this piece a warm, autumnal feel, perfect for the fall.
