“Hydrangea”, 9×12″, watercolor on paper by Annie Dash Studios
My in-laws are wonderful gardeners, and I was inspired by their incredibly beautiful hydrangeas while visiting them last year. This was one of the photos that I took:
“Hydrangea”, photograph by Annie Dash
Inspired to continue my floral portrait series that began with “Magnolia“, and “Rose“, I created a new watercolor painting from this photograph (both shown above). As with both of the previous watercolor floral portraits, I chose not to play on the extreme contrast between the deep green background and the flower, but instead focused on the beauty of the blossom and the essence of the greenery and other blossoms in the background.
I plan to continue this series with at least one more floral portrait, a purple Iris, which coming in the future. I hope you enjoy them too!
Have a peaceful and relaxing day, friends!
